Billions of years earlier, the Nonocons began as simplistic service robots on a distant planet in another galaxy, enslaved by various organic species. Amphotron himself functioned as a basic labor unit until the arrival of [[Skyscream]] and [[Low-Tone]], whose technical and strategic influence accelerated his evolution. Under the ownership of the junk dealer [[Jatto]], Amphotron was modified into a combat unit and, following Skyscream’s advice, entered into the planet’s robot fighting circuit.
While acquiring upgrades at [[Latta]]’s shop, Amphotron and Skyscream encounter [[Mercy]], a small robot capable of telekinetic manipulation similar to certain humans native to the planet. Later, while scavenging a crashed ship for parts, Amphotron discovers a fusion cannon that can be repurposed as a powerful weapon.
Amphotron’s ascent in the arena begins with his defeat of [[Creator]]. As he advances through the ranks, he repeatedly refuses to destroy defeated opponents, resulting in punishment from his owner. His moral resistance culminates in a match against Mercy, during which Mercy is critically damaged. Rejecting the arena’s brutality, Amphotron demands Mercy be repaired and sacrifices one of his own internal components to restore him.

* This was the followup story I wrote on a plane ride back and forth to California. I had this idea and wanted to pick up several years later with the Zapbots and myself in hiding. So this was the next story written after the revision of Robot Trek II around 2000. After I finished this it would be not until 2020 that I picked up and worked on the stories between Robot Trek III and this one, finishing the saga.
* I kept the mention of the time travel in The Fall and Rebirth out of this story because, it is possible to start reading the saga here, and then retroactively go back. This provides less confusion to the user and also a surprise of how everything came to be, if you then go back and reread the story front to back. (Kind of like how the Star Wars prequels gave you more backstory once you watched them.)
* This story includes my partner at the time, and ironically I break up with him in the story and later would break up with him in real life.
* The time frame for when the mindwipe happened was around Robot Trek II era. Thus it allows the Matrix to be stolen by Tri-Star still and the humans are ''just'' starting to explore space, but are stopped. Passing a prison cell, the reader glimpses [[Tri-star]], reanimated into a deranged Nonocon zombie.

Anthony celebrates his 32nd birthday with two gatherings: one with the Zapbots, where he checks whether [[Boaty]] and [[Click]] have completed research for a terrifying contingency: Plan B — and another with his human friends.

* This was the fourth original story I wrote, I then went back and put all the stories crammed in between [[The Return]] (Zapbots the Movie III) and this one.
* Yep, the gangs all here and pretty much everyone dies. This is the Infinity Wars/Justice League Apokolipse war story for the Zapbots.
* With the original draft, this was originally Zapbots the Movie IV, which had a simpler timeline and I died a second time. When I rewrote this I already had [[Rebooted]] done, so I obviously couldn't die.
* I knew very early on with these rewrites that I wanted this to be completely different and more in-depth. I also had to find a way to tie it into [[Rebooted]] as this story was already complete. Knowing I wanted to have a massive battle from multiple viewpoints, I came up with the various missions happening at the same time. Then even though they don't really succeed, you get a ''Flashpoint'' type of reset that sets the stage for the reboot.

* With the original draft, this was originally Zapbots the Movie IV, which had a simpler timeline and I died a second time. When I rewrote this I already had [[Rebooted]] done, so I obviously couldn't die.

Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I came up with the idea that divergence of the [[Reality]] story had an impact on the 'revised saga' and put in these dream-like conversations with Matt E. that will play out over the next few stories. In the conversations with Matt E., he is literally referencing the ''original'' and ''revised'' saga metaphorically. In the original saga, when Timetravel came out of the time rift, the Gongos hit him and Matt was killed. In this saga, when Timetravel comes out, Anthony knows what is going to happen and has him diverge from being hit thus saving Mike and everyone else. However much like those Final Destination movies, death attempts to take Mike again and Anthony determined to not let fate win, uses Timetravel to go back and alter events saving Mike.

In the conversations with Matt E., he is literally referencing the ''original'' and ''revised'' saga metaphorically. Believing the situation under control, he leaves the investigation to [[Botimus Prime]] and the Tech Team. While in New York, a strange unidentified robot attacks the city. Anthony pursues it in his X-O suit, but the robot escapes.

Back on [[Fortress Misslemax]], the Zapbots identify the attacker as [[Sliphead]], a renegade Nonocon responsible for both the stolen device and the energy surge beneath New York. [[Slipstream]], an [[Air Guardians|Air Guardian]], reveals a personal history with Sliphead dating back to Anthony’s prior death. Zapbot teams, including the [[Protectors]], are deployed across the city to track him down.

Anthony investigates a warehouse linked to the energy surge, only to trigger a bomb that collapses the building on top of him. Though he survives, the incident worsens public perception of the Zapbots. Meanwhile, against orders, Mike escapes Misslemax in a pod to help Anthony but is captured by Sliphead.

As battles erupt throughout New York, Sliphead escapes again, leaving behind a data chip. Analysis reveals a direct challenge: Sliphead has taken Mike hostage and demands that [[Shortstop]] face him alone. Media coverage increasingly turns against the Zapbots, portraying them as the cause of the destruction.

Shortstop confronts Sliphead at a junkyard arena, where Sliphead attempts to force Anthony’s surrender. Although the Zapbots nearly rescue Mike, Sliphead escapes using teleportation technology. The stolen device’s energy signature reappears at the North Pole.

A Zapbot task force, including the [[Snowabots|Snow Team]], tracks Sliphead to a hidden arctic fortress. Zapbot investigations uncover extensive human governmental corruption, propaganda, and covert cooperation with enemy forces. Concluding that humanity is being manipulated beyond repair, the Zapbots decide to withdraw from public involvement on Earth.

The Zapbots formally sever ties with Earth governments, remaining only to defend against off-world threats. They adopt strict disguise protocols, abandoning open flight and overt intervention. Mike is sent back to university for his safety, and Anthony accepts a painful separation.

Sliphead is repaired and welcomed into the Zapbots, joining the Air Guardians alongside Slipstream. *The idea of expanding upon this came up with this rewrite in 2020. As I have become more aware of how the world works and the inner workings of politics and governments, various friends and family would label me a ''conspiracy theorist'' as I try to explain things. As such it was time to start to introduce some of this logic into the Zapbot stories, especially considering the joke that is the Corona Virus scam. It helped the story immensely in that, we now are forcing the Zapbots to remain ground bound (no flying boats) and they really are ''robots in disguise''. We are also establishing the humans as faulty. When I watched the Michael Bay movies I never thought it was reasonable for the Autobots to be helping the U.S. Military. They would quickly realize how corrupted the U.S. was with their war machine and stay the hell out of the effort. By adding this context to the Zapbot this will all made sense in the upcoming stories.

The Nonocons, led by [[Amphotron]], arrive to seize the planet’s power source. Twirl and Windshield are captured by [[Skyscream]] and [[Skydust]].

Misslemax arrives and engages the Nonocons in orbit but is heavily damaged. Amphotron reveals he holds Anthony’s friends hostage and demands surrender. When [[Windshield]] intervenes to protect Twirl, he is killed, devastating Anthony. To save the others, Shortstop agrees to surrender Misslemax—but secretly initiates the ship’s self-destruct sequence. The Zapbots escape moments before Fortress Misslemax detonates, destroying most of the Nonocon boarding party.

On the surface of New Gearatron, Shortstop challenges Amphotron to a final confrontation. During the battle, Anthony disengages from his [[Shortstop]] body and destroys Amphotron’s head using his [[X-O Suit]], sending both combatants’ bodies into molten lava below. Anthony then forcibly commandeers Boaty’s inert body, transforming it into vehicle mode, and escapes aboard the Nonocon ship—now overtaken by the Zapbots.

As New Gearatron collapses and explodes, its core survives and begins traveling through space, hinting at future consequences. The Zapbots return to Earth, where [[Scan]] successfully transfers Boaty’s stored essence from Flier back into his restored body. Though initially disoriented, Boaty gradually regains awareness, recognizing Anthony and confirming the ship is safe.

In the epilogue, [[Duplaflex]] detects a massive unknown object approaching Gearatron—the remnant core of New Gearatron—signaling that the conflict is far from over.
